身為福爾摩斯的腦粉，總是害怕改編作品讓人感到失望。在看到福爾摩斯小姐的書出來後，除了引頸期盼之外，第一件做的事情就是先上Good Reads書評網查評價，看到評價還不錯，才敢下單收藏。花了大概一個禮拜的時間細細讀完後，真的很喜歡這部作品。
首先，你一定要先放下以前對於夏洛克•福爾摩斯的所有印象，重新讓作者Sherry Thomas帶你開啟一個全新的平行宇宙。書一開始的人物、案件、敘事方式都需要一點時間和耐心理清頭緒，但我可以保證，這本書真的非常引人入勝，從福爾摩斯小姐的角色塑造、身世背景、推理過程、故事演進，都讓人一步一步進入十九世紀的迷人貝克街(雖然十九世紀的英國本身就夠有魅力了)。
喜歡夏洛特•福爾摩斯的那種特立獨行、古靈精怪，她不是原著的複製也不只是致敬，而是一個全新的角色，女性的設定在許多層面上都有很不一樣的發展。在英國這樣保守的社會中，她選擇活出自我的一個故事(但故事沒有發展成不舒服的女性主義，本人對極度女性主義的書有點感冒)。
本書是Lady Sherlock系列書籍的第一本，花了蠻多時間在描寫角色的起源、出身、家庭，目前書已經出到第四本，從書評評價來看，後面的發展應該越來越精彩。中文版的後續書還在等待翻譯中，但我已經迫不及待直接買了後面三集的原文書來看了。期待讀到夏洛特•福爾摩斯更多的發展，如果此系列能出電影影集的話我也非常期待!

As a die-hard fan of Sherlock Holmes, I was looking forward to reading it when I first heard of the new Lady Sherlock book published. But instead of buying the book immediately, I checked the book review and ratings on GoodReads.com to make sure that it’s a good adaptation. I don’t like the feeling of a disappointment since I love Sherlock so much. After seeing many favorable comments, I finally decide to buy the book and start my reading. I spent about a week to read through the whole book, and it was a delightful one.
First, you should put all your impression on the old version of Sherlock Holmes aside and let Sherry Thomas, the author, lead you to a parallel universe where Charlotte Holmes lives. At the beginning of the story, it takes some patience to figure out all the characters, cases, and the way she depicts the stories. But I can guarantee that the book is very intriguing. From the portrayal of Charlotte Holmes, her background, and the process of unfolding the mystery, everything engrosses me to the nineteenth-century Baker Street vibes (Though nineteenth century’s England itself was already pretty charismatic).
I absolutely adore the unconventional, bizarre Charlotte Holmes. She’s neither the duplicity nor just a homage to Sherlock Holmes; Miss Holmes is a whole new character. The gender-swapping setting creates a possibility for the development of storylines. In the conservative upper-class society of England, Charlotte chose to live out a life of her own. (Glad that the story didn’t turn out to be too feminist-ish, I hate stories that are an extreme feminist).
The book is the first one of the series, so it spent some time introducing Charlotte Holmes’ origin, family, and the background of Miss Holmes. Now there are four books in the series, and I am expecting to see more adventures of Charlotte Holmes and the continuing story.
