Though it’s not based on any literary work, I highly highly recommend my recent favorite show to anyone who loves witty dialogue, fascinating characters, beautiful dresses, and stand up comedies—“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. “

“Midge Maisel has everything she has ever wanted — the perfect husband, two kids and an elegant apartment on New York’s Upper West Side. Her seemingly idyllic life takes a surprising turn when she discovers a hidden talent she didn’t previously know she had — stand-up comedy. ”

The story took place in the late 1950s, New York. At the time during the alteration of old and new, the story demonstrates how a woman finds her true self in a conservative, male-dominated world. It’s not merely a feminist story about getting rid of the tradition and breaking free from restrictions. Instead, the show genuinely presents the struggles about Midge being a mom, a wife and a stand-up comedian.

Don’t want to give any spoiler, but the show will definitely laugh your heads off. At the same time, it makes you ponder on how women strive to survive at that time and in our modern society. Not to mention Rachel Brosnahan’s performance is absolutely outstanding. You should all go check it out!
